30 Hours of College Hoops

From 7 pm this evening through 1:30 am Wednesday morning, men's college basketball will reign supreme over the airways. Many of the games, however, look atrocious on paper.

Purdue should cover the 20 1/2 against Eastern Michigan.

Penn State will likely annihilate New Jersey Tech, who only scored 10 points in the first half in a drubbing at the hands of Manhattan on Saturday afternoon.

Boston College should roll to victory and cover 14 points against a poorly coached Loyola of Baltimore team. Please fire Jimmy Patsos ASAP.

Connecticut will have its hands full with Hartford's zone defense, but has too much talent not to win decisively. Hartford got knocked off by Quinippiac on Friday night.

Game of the night is on Fox Sports Pittsburgh as the Pitt Panthers will battle the Miami University Redhawks. Miami (OH) is coming off a very tough loss to UCLA at Pauley Pavilion, 64-59 in the Coaches vs Cancer Tournament Quarter Final. The MAC favorite is loaded with seniors, including big guards Michael Bramos and Kenny Hayes. Miami is getting 13 1/2 points and should easily cover.

Xavier will smoke Toledo, but those in-state rivalry games are always relatively close. I'm picking Toledo and 20 points.

Georgetown takes on the Jacksonville Dolphins tonight. JU has been pretty wretched since the Dee Brown years, but could be competitive in the Atlantic Sun Conference. The Dolphins narrowly lost to Florida State, and one of its A-Sun brethren, Mercer, knocked off Alabama over the weekend, so one never knows.

Look for VPI to handily defeat The Mount in Blacksburg.

I like Missouri covering 14 against UT Chattanooga Mockingbirds, Oklahoma covering 30 1/2 against Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils, Oklahoma State covering 11 against the North Texas Mean Green, Arizona covering 18 at home against the Florida Atlantic Owls, and Memphis covering 15 against UMass in a special midnight attraction. St. Mary's is loaded and Fresno State is not, but 21 1/2 is a lot to ask the Gaels to cover. SMC will win big, but not that big - take Fresno. Not a chance in hell I stay up to watch the Idaho State Bengals battle the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors at 4 am.

More to come from BST..............

How you hating on The Mount?! Both teams are terrible, anythings possible. No crowd whatsoever at this game. If it becomes a speed game, VT could be in troubs.
